Now, let’s get started with Day 17 of learning how to manage our anxiety and panic!

DAY 17 CHALLENGE:       Write Down 3 Accomplishments That You’re Proud Of

How It Helps Anxiety:

As someone who occasionally deals with anxiety myself (I refuse to call myself an anxiety sufferer, btw), I totally understand how low self esteem can actually contribute to anxiety. And of course, once you get into that anxious state it can be hard to think of how you are and what you think when anxiety hasn’t visited us.

If you haven’t noticed the patterns in this program, journaling can be extremely helpful in managing anxiety. While it hasn’t been its own challenge, many of our challenges have had to do with thought tracking and keeping notes or writing down thoughts. This is because through writing things down, we are able to document (and process) how we are feeling in that moment. We are able to challenge those written thoughts – when needed. When we are in a period of anxiety, we are able to go back into our journal and see how things really are.

By writing down 3 accomplishments that you’re proud of, you are able to document actual things that you have done. YOU did it! This helps to build self esteem as well as helping us to remember that we are strong enough and worthy enough to accomplish amazing things. And if we’ve done it three times already, we can certainly do it again.

When we’re in an anxious state and anxiety has us thinking that we’ve never done anything of note, we have the receipts to prove anxiety wrong.

How To Meet Todays Goal:

Take a few moments to really think about some of the amazing things you’ve accomplished in your life. Perhaps it was graduating college or traveling alone to a foreign place. Perhaps it was raising a child as a single parent or climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. There are limitless accomplishments you may have achieved. Choose three that you are most proud of and write those down. You may also want to write a few sentences on what you had to go through to achieve those feats.

Wrap-Up:

By writing down three accomplishments that you’re proud of, you are reminding yourself of the amazing things you’ve already achieved and proving to yourself that you will always pull through.
