Day 8 of the 30 Day Anxiety Challenge with Kyle McMahon

Today is Day 8! You have officially completed the first week of the 30 Day Anxiety Challenge! You should be very proud of your accomplishment! You have learned 7 different ways to manage your anxiety and panic.  As you reflect back on your first week, think about the challenges that you enjoyed and the ones that you didn’t enjoy as much. Take note of what worked for you and what didn’t in your journal or notebook. This will be extremely helpful to you when you’re finished the program as you’ll be able to put together your own anti-anxiety tool belt filled with all of the things that worked for you.

I am confident that the Day 7 Challenge was beneficial to you as you learned about how nature can help with anxiety and panic. Don’t forget to mark off your success from Day 7 on your  Anxiety Challenge Tracker.

Now, let’s get started with Day 8 of learning how to manage our anxiety and panic!

DAY 8 CHALLENGE:       Create Your Own Sanctuary

How To Meet Todays Goal:

A sanctuary is a space where you can go to find peace and relax – even if it’s just for a few minutes. Find a space in your house or apartment that will be your own personal sanctuary. It doesn’t have to be a big space and you certainly don’t need to do any remodeling. You will simply create a space that relaxes you. Your sanctuary could be an unused room or a space in the corner of your bedroom. It could be your bathroom or anywhere in your home where you will be able to get away when you want a few moments of peace.

Once you’ve decided upon your space, get rid of any clutter that doesn’t need to be there. There’s no need for phone chargers or piles of paper or anything at all that doesn’t help you feel calm. The only purpose of this space is for you to relax.

If the sound of water helps calm you, place a small fountain in your sanctuary. Put a diffuser with your favorite essential oils there and turn it on when you are in your sanctuary. Do you have a particular plant or flower you find beautiful? Place it in there as well.

If you don’t have a dimmer on the lights, place a few non-chemical soy candles to light when you are in your sanctuary. Place a small bluetooth speaker or bring headphones so you can listen to relaxing music while you’re there.

How It Helps Anxiety:

With the constant bustle of life today, it can be extremely tough to find a few moments of peace. By creating a sanctuary in your own home, it doesn’t matter what time of day it is or what the weather is like outside, you can find solace in your special place.

Just a few moments a day in your sanctuary will help you to manage anxiety. Remember that one of the keys to managing anxiety and panic is to have regular intervals of peace and stillness. By creating a sanctuary, you have your very own space to retreat for a relaxing, quiet moment that is free from stress and the demands of your life – whenever you choose to visit.

Wrap-Up:

Creating your very own sanctuary in your home home allows you to retreat from the demands and stress of your life and have a safe, quiet space where you are able to relax.
