Film Fest 919 kicks off in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with an impressive lineup of 40 films that you’ll be talking about come awards season.

Film Fest 919 started with an eager crowd and an artful black & white bang in beautiful Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Kicking off Wednesday with Alfonso Cuarón’s incredible film Roma, I knew I’d be in for a treat for the festivals inaugural year. Although really, it should have been a clue when last year’s launch party screened the award season favorite The Florida Project.
Offering a large, impressive lineup of films is no easy task, but Film Fest 919 pulled it off impeccably.  Set at the beautiful Silverspot Cinemas, each theater is a luxury experience in itself and it perfectly complements the lineup of films the festival organizers curated. The lineup includes many buzzed about titles – none of which have been released into theaters yet! Here’s just a short list of the lineup:

Roma
The Old Man & the Gun
Destroyer
22 July
A Private War
Boy Erased
The Sisters  Brothers
Capernaum
The Favourite
Non Fiction
Dogman

I smiled as I heard local college students trading their reviews with a grandmother about the film they had just seen (The Favourite). It’s a special event that can bring together folks from every spectrum of life to share in a common enjoyment, but festival creators Carol Marshall (powerhouse Hollywood publicist), Randi Emerman (luxury theater chain Silverspot Cinema executive) and Claudia Puig (President of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association) have done it. The three industry veterans created Film Fest 919 with the slogan, “Catch the Films Before They Catch On” – and that’s just what they’ve achieved. These will be the films we’ll all be talking about come awards season. By attending Film Fest 919, you’ll be seeing them before most of the public.

In its first year, Film Fest 919 doesn’t just reach the high bar of film festivals, it sets it. With friendly volunteers, upscale theaters, thought provoking panels and a film lineup that reads like a future ballot for the Oscars, Film Fest 919 is the one you want to put on your list to attend! We can trade reviews in the lobby!

Film Fest 919 runs through Sunday October 7th 2018. For the full lineup, purchase tickets and get more information visit the Film Fest 919 website.
