Real Love: Christian The Lion (video)
Sometimes what we believe to be the most dangerous things are simply misunderstood. Christian the Lion is one such example.
In Australia in the late 1960’s, John Rendall and Ace Bourke purchased a lion cub from a pet store. The lion cub, Christian, was amazingly loving and was kept in their store to the delight of the local community. As Christian grew, it became clear that a furniture store was not the right place for him. In a change meeting wit the founders of Born Free Foundation, Bourke and Rendall agreed to give Christian the life he truly deserved: to be returned to his native lands.
In 1972, Rendall and Bourke flew to Kenya, where Christian the Lion had been living. The video clip below, courtesy of the Born Free Foundation, documents the emotional reunion and gives us a powerful testament to the power of love.
