This year make it stick with these 5 easy ways to keep your New Year’s Resolutions for good!
How many years have you set out with the best intentions to change for the brand new year only to give up before February rolls around? Do you really want to lose those 20 pounds or use that gym membership five days a week? Are you really ready to quit your job and finally start that business? Here’s how to make it work. Read on for 5 easy ways to keep your New Year’s Resolutions for good!
1. Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions Simple
Don’t make your New Year’s resolutions so difficult and complicated that you can’t even remember what they are. To truly be effective keep your resolutions simple and easily explainable. A good rule of thumb is to keep your New Year’s resolutions to a few words. When it can be easily explained, it’s easier to accomplish.
2. Have A Plan
Have a step by step plan in place to make it more manageable to achieve the goal of your New Year’s resolutions. By breaking it up into smaller, bit sized steps you are mentally setting the goal post closer. It is much easier to walk a mile than to walk 10 miles, right?
3. Write It All Down
Writing down your New Year’s resolutions along with the plan you created to achieve them has a powerful effect. The simple act of writing it down helps your brain to fully visualize what you are looking to achieve and helps you process it. This alone works wonders in helping you achieve your New Year’s resolutions.
4. Have A Support System
You must have a couple of trusted friends or loved ones that you can rely on to keep you accountable and be a voice of reason for you. There will certainly be times that are difficult and you feel like you want to give up. Don’t. That’s when you call someone in your support system to get you through that rough patch…and it is only a rough patch. They will help you get through that moment and remind you of the bigger picture.
5. Celebrate Every Success
No matter how big or small it may seem, you must celebrate every success. Every step taken is a step closer to your goal. Celebrate that step. If you follow these five steps, you are setting yourself up for success. Keep in mind that it only takes 66 days to form a habit. (Yes, 21 days to form a habit was a myth.) Every day that you are closer to the 66th day is a day closer to making your New Year’s Resolutions a success. That means that if you’ve worked towards your goal every day, by March 10th you will have made it a habit.
