DAY 16 CHALLENGE: Choose A Positive Affirmation And Carry It With You
How It Helps Anxiety:
A positive affirmation is a short sentence or phrase that reaffirms how you want to feel or who you want to be. Extremely popular with heavyweights like Louise Hay and Tony Robbins, studies show that putting daily affirmations into practice can have powerful results in managing anxiety.
Positive affirmations work by changing the negative self talk we often partake in as anxiety sufferers. Anxiety is a negative experience for us and through positive self talk, we can negate those negative thoughts we fill our heads with. Overtime, positive self talk becomes second nature to us.
How To Meet Todays Goal:
Take a few moments to think about something that brings you anxiety and try to turn it into a positive, affirming statement. This exercise is similar to creating a personal mantra, but is not the same. Where a personal mantra is a positive statement that you would repeat through focus and meditation, a positive affirmation is a sentence or phrase that you would like to affirm about yourself. The difference is small but crucial, as both things are different ways to manage anxiety with different processes.
Once you’ve decided on your own positive affirmation, or found one online, write it down on a card and carry it with you today. Make sure to refer to it throughout the day and repeat the statement both out loud and in your head.
Feel free to use one of the positive affirmation phone wallpapers I’ve created just for you. Click on the one you like to download it to your phone and then save as a wallpaper for the day.
Positive Affirmations help to replace the negative self talk that holds us down with positive self talk that lifts us up. Over time, this becomes a habit that can make a huge difference in the negative self talk patterns we have created for ourselves.
