DAY 14 CHALLENGE:       Get Creative (Even If You’re Not)

How To Meet Todays Goal:

No matter, if you’re an artist or not, doing a regular creative activity reduces anxiety symptoms by lowering the cortisol in the body. Take a some time today and do something creative. It doesn’t matter if you think you are creative or not, there’s at least one creative activity that you would enjoy.

Here are some ideas:

Drawing
Painting
Photography
Quilt / Knit
Write A Poem
Play An Instrument
Decorate A Cake
Crafting / DIY
Write A Short Story

How It Helps Anxiety:

Anxiety is shown to be present in creative people at much higher rates over people that are not. Additionally, 75% of people who create art in some form – no matter how “good” or “bad” one thinks the art is – have reduced anxiety and depression symptoms. Participating in some kind of creative outlet actually reduces the stress hormones in your body.

Scientists were able to determine that there were numerous factors that led to the reduced cortisol levels from creating some form of art, including:

*Focusing on a task
*Self expressive
*Acts as a distraction
*Lack of restrictions
*Increases self esteem

Wrap-Up:

No matter your level of perceived talent or ability, doing a creative activity is a great way to help manage anxiety and panic.
